Two Non Profit Reverse Mortgage Counseling Giants Merge
The Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Greater Atlanta has merged with the Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Central Florida. Both are well recognized organizations that provide free credit and mortgage counseling services to people including seniors who are interested in reverse mortgages. Last year in 2008, both agencies provided an estimated 550,000 consumers with financial counseling services.
With this merger the Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Atlanta can expand its services to reach about 8 million residents of Florida. Clients of the Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS) of Central Florida as well as the Florida Gulf Coast will also be able to access the sophisticated internet counseling program and 24 hour toll free telephone counseling services already being offered by the CCCS of greater Atlanta.
This symbiotic merger is designed to benefit customers of both organizations and the financial public. According to Suzanne Boas who is the president of CCCS of greater Atlanta, “This combination will help Floridians gain more convenient access to certified, nonprofit credit counselors who can help them find solutions for their financial problems,” Florida Central counseling agency has more reverse mortgage counseling depth and also offers bilingual services which the CCCS of Atlanta can benefit from.
The merger will equip the resulting counseling agency with 35 certified reverse mortgage counselors. In 2008, reverse mortgage counselors of the CCCS conducted over 7,500 reverse mortgage counseling sessions. This figure is even expected to increase further as the reverse mortgage market expands.
Before the merger CCCS of Greater Atlanta had 20 offices spread in 50 states. It offers credit counseling via telephone and the internet.
The CCCS of Central Florida and the Florida Gulf Coast is a non profit organization dedicated to financial security and wellness. It was established in 1974 and is approved by HUD.
Both of the agencies are certified by the HUD or the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide reverse mortgage counseling. They are also both certified by the Executive Office of the United States Trustees for pre-filling bankruptcy counseling and pre-discharge education.
